An Opportunity to Grow: Our Cornwall Flower Farm Journey
Our Cornwall flower farm is becoming a reality after we discovered a post on the Ecological Land Cooperative’s Instagram feed in October 2023. Though we had been searching for land for over a decade, this opportunity offered the perfect alignment with our values and long-term vision.
Once we reached out to the ELC, we were asked to reflect on what it would mean to live a low-impact, off-grid life alongside other cooperative stewards. This approach to life and land stewardship resonated deeply with us. Working cooperatively for us means generosity, kindness, and enabling reciprocity within the community.
At our Cornwall flower farm, we integrate these values into everything we do. Our guiding principles echo the ethics of permaculture: Care for People, Care for Planet, and Fair Share. These principles shape our daily work, from planning flower beds to nurturing the land intentionally.
From our Christian perspective, love goes beyond care — it is an active and ongoing practice. When someone is well loved, they are empowered to love others, creating a virtuous circle that strengthens our local community. This philosophy informs not only our approach to farming but also our interactions with neighbors, volunteers, and visitors.
Here on our little patch of Eden, we have the opportunity to steward this land sustainably. This journal documents our journey, the challenges we face, and the joy of growing flowers in harmony with nature. By sharing our experiences, we hope to inspire others who are interested in ecological farming, cooperative living, and sustainable practices.
Our Cornwall flower farm is more than a business; it is a living project that reflects our values, faith, and commitment to the land. Through careful planning and intentional cultivation, we aim to create a flourishing space that benefits people, planet, and community alike.
